The Amazon company has pulled WikiLeaks from Amazon servers. WikiLeaks recently relocated the website to Amazon Web Services, a web hosting service, after denial of service to attacks. Amazon apparently did not want to be associated with WikiLeaks, which is hardly a bad idea today. Resource for this article – Amazon removes WikiLeaks website from servers by Money Blog Newz.
Dropping WikiLeaks off Amazon after a protest
A lot of DDOS, or distributed denial of service, happened on WikiLeaks after the “Cablegate” series happened. As a result, the site moved to Amazon Web Services. Amazon.com has kicked WikiLeaks off its self-service web hosting in protest, after Senator Joe Lieberman called for American companies to boycott the site, according to The Guardian. The WikiLeaks Twitter page made statements that “fine our $ are now spent to employ people in Europe” and that if Amazon had been not disposed to following the First Amendment, the business should “get out of the business of selling books.”.
Julian Assange and outlaw in Europe
The Swedish government has a warrant out for the arrest of the head of WikiLeaks, Julian Assange. The Christian Science Monitor reports that as a result of sexual assault charges, Assange has been a fugitive in Sweden from time to time. Assange could be arrested in any nation he is found in though as the Interpol, which is the international police organization, issued a “red notice”. He won’t necessarily be arrested. It is just a recommendation being passed along. Australia, Assange’s home country, and the United States are mulling criminal charges. Assange’s mother just lately said in an interview that her son is principled and doing what he believes is right and “fighting baddies, if you like.”.
Outrage mounting
The international community has responded quite a bit to the diplomatic cables that WikiLeaks released. It appears WikiLeaks may not be able to operate much longer although nobody knows what is going to end up happening with Julian Assange.
